Music Video Production for School & Universities Singapore

Last month, Hougang Primary School held their 20^th-anniversary celebration with a specially-produced school music video. Their school teacher, Mr Yahya, composed a commemorative song to celebrate this joyous occasion for the school while the vocals were provided by Hougang Primary School’s very own alumni Gwendolyn Lee. We are delighted to share that we were the videography crew engaged to help bring this music video concept to life.

Conceptualising The School Music Video

The concept for the music video was to feature Hougang Primary School alumni and local pop singer Gwendolyn Lee visiting various places in the school to collect pieces of a jigsaw puzzle. Through this music video, Gwendolyn took viewers on a tour of the school campus, highlighting the warm and caring environment that their students will get to learn and grow in.

Gwendolyn also introduced the new school robot, which was built as a collaboration between Hougang Primary School and Ngee Ann Polytechnic. This robot would be used as part of the students’ classroom learning experience, giving students and teachers alike the opportunity to upskill and learn how to programme the robot.

At the end of the music video, Gwendolyn matched all the puzzle pieces together, forming the beautiful school logo.

The song by Mr Yahya also beautifully captures school’s vision, mission and motto of nurturing holistic, future-ready students grounded in strong characters.

SUSS University Music Video Production

This year, in conjunction with the Singapore University of Social Sciences (SUSS) graduation convocation, the school created a music video to commemorate the graduates’ achievements. 

The music video depicts five current SUSS undergraduate students demonstrating their various daily lives as full-time or part-time university students, as well as how they will eventually graduate and achieve success in life. It also features two of their former students, a singer and a violinist, performing the school song.

The production took a total of three and a half days to be completed. Some of the challenges faced during the production include making sure that all of the necessary scenes were shot given the tight schedule and multiple shooting locations to cover. However, with the help of a well planned shooting schedule, the project was able to be fulfilled on time with minimal hiccups. We also considered the schedule of the multiple talents involved since they would need to attend classes or have to juggle between their classes and jobs. Mindful planning led us to working around everyone’s schedule to ensure that the shoot can progress smoothly.

We are proud to have been the video production team for SUSS’ graduation music video. It is an important milestone in their lives and we’re pleased to be part of it. We wish all graduates all the best for their future endeavours as they continue to excel in their lives.

Metta School Music Video (Community Chest)

Metta School offers education to students with mild intellectual disability and autism aged between 7 and 21 years old. Their dance team, “Metta Hot Steppers”, performed a special dance performance featuring ABBA’s Mamma Mia and Mika’s Love Today as part of this year’s Community Chest Vertical Marathon.

The performance music video features 16 talented dancers ranging in age from 15 to 16. These students have put in many hours of practice with their dance instructor in order to bring out the best in them during the performance. 

As the majority of the students are not professional dancers and/or have special needs, repeated takes are difficult for them, and we must ensure that we get the shots we need in the shortest amount of time.

Despite the difficulties faced by the cew,  it gives us great pleasure to have been a part of the video production team and to be able to see the fruits of their labor. We hope you enjoy the dance performance and that it brings you as much joy as it did for us while we were filming it.
