Creativity is defined as the ability to think outside of the box and come up with novel ideas and solutions. Since its earliest inception, video production and creativity have often been seen as going hand-in-hand with each other. This is certainly no different today, as the rise of the digital age has also led to a rise in demand for video production. As such, creativity still remains the best way for your video to stand out in today’s saturated market. In this article, we have compiled some of our past references to creative videos, as well as some locally produced references that impressed us.

Creative Video Production by Vivid Snaps
In this section, we will cover some of our prior works for creative videos and discuss their strengths and stylistic choices.
Creative Healthcare Insurance Commerical
This video introduces Ron, the overly health-conscious and paranoid germaphobe, meeting up with his friends at a cafe, who educate him and correct his misconceptions about health and disease. To balance out the video’s grim subject manner, Ron and his misunderstandings are exaggerated to the point of absurdity, painting the encounter in a comedic light.
Despite the exaggeration, many of Ron’s concerns are still relatable, and viewers can easily resonate with his worries. This means by extension, Ron’s friends are also educating the viewers about their worries and reassuring them that there are solutions available for them.
Creating narratives that place characters into relatable scenarios can be an organic and enjoyable way of showing how your products or services can benefit your audience without confusing them.

Retirement Plan Commercial
This reference creates four distinct and fun characters with relatable personalities, like the fitness buff or the workaholic. Each of these personalities has distinct goals that they want to work towards and achieve in life.
They are then presented with an insurance option that best suits their lifestyle. Audiences can then insert themselves into one of the four personalities and decide for themselves which product would be most suitable for them.

Professional Interview Video
Instead of creating a story with fictional characters, this reference takes us through the real story of a professional in the field, going over the problems he faced as a child, how he got to where he is now, and his future goals.
Kinetic typography animation is used in conjunction with graphic design to supplement an otherwise plain interview video, giving the video an energetic and hip flair.

Charity Work Pro-Bono Video Production
The above sample is actually also a sample of our Pro-Bono video work and was filmed and edited during the Circuit Breaker period in April 2020.
This creative video depicts people of all ages playing their part in helping out charity by “passing” around a donation bucket. In reality, we installed a green screen at our client’s location and used it to simulate being in multiple different locations. This helped us adhere to safety regulations while still being able to shoot a fun and engaging video that stuck to the organisation’s theme of sharing and giving to others.

Creative Branded Web Series for Healthcare Products
This two-part Creative Video Production tells the story of a young girl who grows increasingly distant from her loving father as she grows older and takes his love for granted — a grounded story to which most viewers will undoubtedly be able to relate.
Even the product is important in the story, as it is a physical representation of her father’s love and affection for her, and something that, just like her father’s love, she has taken for granted her entire life. Including your products in your narratives can increase audience interest in your products.

Creative Video Production References from Singapore and Abroad
In this section, we will go over several references for Creative Videos produced in Singapore, as well as give our thoughts and opinions on them.
PLEASE NOTE: The videos referenced in this blog article are not produced by Vivid Snaps. The following videos are sourced from publicly available websites, such as YouTube.
Last Days – Anti Drug Commerical
Set in a world where recreational drug usage is legalised, this chilling commercial depicts a drug addict who stabs and robs a child to fund his addiction.
It might seem strange at first that an anti-drug commercial would feature a world where recreational drug usage is legalised, but this reference takes full advantage of its world to get its message across, depicting the consequences of legalised drug consumption.
Little worldbuilding tidbits are scattered throughout the commercial, like underground drug markets and drug consumers having an in-built “port” to take drugs. While details like these may appear unnecessary for a commercial, they help make the world more believable, further driving home the message of the commercial: Prevent the legalization of drugs.

Christmas Special Commercial
Has a commercial ever made you cry? This heartfelt tale tells the story of a spoiled young woman learning how to be more appreciative of our parents – a lesson which we’re sure at some point most of us had to learn for ourselves.
Characters with whom viewers can easily identify or sympathize are at the heart of all powerful narratives. If you want to make a creative video that your viewers will remember, draw on your own experiences and use them to convey emotions that your viewers can relate to.

Chinese New Year Special Commercial
On the other hand, great creative videos can leave you laughing on the floor with tears in your eyes. The campaign’s video depicts a road rage incident between two families on their way to visit relatives on the first day of Chinese New Year, but get stuck headlong on a narrow street and refuse to give way to each other.
This reference plays on local pop culture as both families attempt to wait it out by streaming drama shows on their respective mobile devices, before eventually coming to a truce and sharing food with each other.
This reference simultaneously pokes fun and plays into the themes commonly associated with Chinese New Year, like family and generosity, creating an entertaining watch that viewers can easily relate to.

Child Insurance Commercial
Subverting expectations is the act of setting your audience up to believe one thing, only to surprise them with something else. This reference is a perfect example of that, as the audience, both in the video and the viewers, are set up to believe that the emcee of the wedding was dissatisfied with his parents.
Except that in the midpoint of the creative video, when he confronts his father directly, he only responds by playfully ruffling his hair. His true feelings of gratitude are revealed, and everyone heaves a collective sigh of relief.
Subverting your audience’s reactions can catch them off guard, leaving a lasting impression on your viewers and making your creative video more memorable.

It also features a number of well-known Singaporean celebrities and talents, encouraging viewers to visit new places and rediscover Singapore.

Life Insurance Commercial Singapore
As previously stated, one sure-fire way to leave a lasting impression on your viewers is to create characters with whom they can identify and root. In this case, the reference literally puts us in the character’s shoes because the entire film is seen from his point of view.
Shooting your creative videos from a character’s point of view allows your audience to immerse themselves in the scenario you present to them, which can also educate them on the benefits your products or services can provide.

K-Drama Web Series
One easy way to capture your audience’s attention is by making use of today’s trends and popular forms of media. This reference appeals to today’s youth by taking the “K-Drama”, or Korean drama formula, and using it to promote their brand and message.

3-D Animated Creative Video
Creativity goes beyond writing and storytelling in the real world. This reference creates a playful and slightly absurd world filled with vibrant, quirky animated characters leading corporate lives just like most of us, even if they do speak gibberish.
Despite how alien this world and its inhabitants may seem on the surface, this reference still manages to use this world to illustrate how its services can benefit its viewers.
